Built on a greenfield site, the Pakenham Library was designed as a comprehensive, integrated community hub to bring together essential services and facilities in one location. Adjacent to the PB Ronald Reserve and war memorial, this landmark building is readily accessible and highly visible to the wider community.

This community hub unites learners of all ages through a modern library, a community hall and a University of the Third Age (U3A) centre. These spaces are supported by a series of meeting rooms, and spaces for events and programs run by the Cardinia Shire Council. A central spine aids wayfinding, for ease of use by all.

The low lying profile of this centre offers expansive views over the surrounding green spaces, with native grasses offering buffers to outdoor seating areas and pathways. Large areas of glazing, buffered by screening, offer ample natural light and ventilation to the centre. A Discover Garden reinforces learning as an outdoor classroom, whilst also offering a tranquil retreat for the community.
