Trentham Neighbourhood Centre

By transforming the historic Mechanics Institute Hall, the Trentham Neighbourhood Centre revitalises a community landmark into a dynamic multipurpose facility.

Located in the heart of Coliban Ward, the redevelopment integrates a library, visitor information centre, council customer service, playgroup facilities, meeting rooms, and a refurbished community hall. The design celebrates heritage while meeting the evolving needs of today’s growing community.

With sustainability at its core, the project was designed to meet 5 Star Green Star standards, achieved through passive design strategies, efficient systems, and responsible material selection. Although not formally certified, it exemplifies sustainable civic architecture.

Combining old and new, the centre creates a warm, welcoming space for cultural, social, and civic life, a vital gathering place for locals and visitors to connect and engage.
