The 70 bed hostel for YHA Victoria is situated approximately 2km from the heart of Halls Gap in the Grampians National Park.

Sited to maximise solar benefits, the divisible plan allows altered summer/winter operation to reduce energy demands, while low tech materials such as rammed earth, bagged brickwork and plantation timbers link the building to its suburban/bush setting.

Photo voltaic cells, solar hot water, and collection/recycling systems combine with an interactive envelope to create an instructive environment for the local community and national/international guests.
